We are upgrading our Polygon Mainnet infrastructure to Bor v2.8.0 and Erigon v3.6.0 in preparation for the Chicago hardfork, scheduled for activation at block 87218600 (target time 2026-05-21 14:00 UTC). This hardfork updates gas pricing for selected EVM opcodes and precompiles to better align gas costs with execution costs and help maintain network stability. During the maintenance window, customers may experience intermittent disruptions to RPC availability as nodes are rotated through the upgrade process.
RPC Changes: Gas pricing — eth_estimateGas, eth_gasPrice, and transaction execution costs for affected EVM opcodes and precompiles will reflect updated gas costs after the hardfork activates at block 87218600. Clients with hardcoded gas assumptions for these operations may need to adjust.
