We are upgrading our Hedera Mainnet JSON-RPC Relay infrastructure to v0.79.0 on 2026-10-07. This release introduces the Pectra network upgrade, adding support for EIP-7702 (type 4 "set code" transactions) and EIP-7623 (calldata cost accounting), along with accuracy improvements to fee estimation and contract calls, performance optimizations, and security hardening. Brief interruptions to RPC availability may occur on that date.
RPC Changes: - eth_call — Now uses blockhash instead of block number when querying the Mirror Node, eliminating ambiguity during chain reorgs or duplicate block heights. - eth_feeHistory — baseFeePerGas is now computed as a gas-used-weighted average of block transaction prices, aligning responses with actual network costs; rewardPercentiles parameter is now validated and malformed arrays will return an error. - eth_subscribe — logs filter now enforces a maximum address limit (default 1000) to prevent excessive query load. - eth_sendRawTransaction — Type 4 (EIP-7702) transactions are rejected unless TX_TYPE_4_ENABLED is set to true; all transactions are subject to MAX_TRANSACTION_GAS_LIMIT (default 15000000). - Nonce error responses — NONCE_TOO_LOW and NONCE_TOO_HIGH now both return error code -32000 instead of the previous non-standard codes 32001 and 32002.
